This is a 3rd Rail 4235 2-10-0 Brass Pennsylvania Decapod Steam Locomotive and Tender. The locomotive features an operating headlight, a decorative bell, metal side rods and metal wheels. The tender features die-cast metal trucks, metal wheels and axles.
Introduced in the late 19th century, the 2-10-0 was first unveiled in North America for the Lehigh Valley Railroad on the East Coast. The 2-10-0 notation would catch on quickly, and would soon before commissioned in rail-yards all over the world for their versatility, and powered axels making them a powerful locomotive despite drawbacks with the firebox and running at low speeds. These models would run well into the mid-20th century before eventually making their way from a running status to a preservation state. Today a handful of these “Decapods” can be found in museums!
