American Flyer 312 VIntage S PRR 4-6-2 Die-Cast Steam Locomotive & Tender VG

Here is an American Flyer 312 Vintage S PRR 4-6-2 Die-Cast Steam Locomotive & Tender, from the late 1940s. It features Die Cast construction, puffing smoke, an operating headlight, 3-position reverse operation, realistic design, and a powerful motor. The K5 was one of AF's most popular steam engines in the early Postwar Era. This is a Type II version with silver lettering, smoke and choo choo in the tender.

Introduced in its prototype form in the late 19th century, the 4-6-2 would take the world by storm at the turn of the 20th century, being seen as one of the biggest innovation in the history of locomotives -- the 4-6-2 would quickly finds its place in rail-yards across the world. Heralded for its ability to haul passengers, the 4-6-2 was a versatile model hauling freight and coal as well, with tank variants being introduced later during the 20th century. Traveling at speeds upwards of 100mph the 4-6-2was featured on rail-ways ranging from Argentina to Egypt, and all the way to the far East in China! This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. The front boiler plate is missing from this locomotive & the pilot shows damage. There are several scratches/nicks across the locomotive & tender bodies resulting in paint loss in some areas. The tender is missing a wheel pair. The rear of the locomotive shows a broken connecting bracket for the tender. There are signs of rust along the side rods, handrails & other metal components. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. When tested, this locomotive only ran forward with operational lighting, however could not run in reverse & did not emit smoke. This locomotive will be sold "As-Is". The original box is not included. The instruction manual is not included. Please check the photos for a detailed look at this item. Overall condition is Very Good.
