Lionel 97 Vintage O Operating Coal Elevator/Loader VG

This is a Lionel 97 Coal Elevator/Loader from 1946-50. This classic accessory provides both loading and unloading action. When set between two parallel tracks, an operating dump car (like a 3559 or 3469) dumps its coal load into the bin on the front scoop of the 97. Then the chain buckets lift the coal into the building atop the tower. Then a button is pushed which opens a door in the floor of the house and releases the coal out a chute and the coal is loaded into a car waiting on the track in the back of the 97. Neat! This accessory has a bakelite base, metal tower, and a colorful paint scheme. This is a true 1940 classic and it measures 13 inches tall.
