This is a MTH 40-4002 Z-4000 Remote Commander Receiver.
The Z4000 transformer can be remotely operated using the Z4000 Remote Control System. This two-piece set consists of a wireless remote control unit and a reciever box. The receiver box plugs into the back of the Z4000 transformer and communicates with the wireless remote using 900 mhz radio signals. Using the Z4000 Remote Control System, users can remotely command the Z4000 variable channels to power up or down the tracks connected to the variable channels on the back of the Z4000. Users also have the ability to access various features found inside Proto-Sound equipped locomotives in addition to remotely instructing any engine equipped with a bell or whistle to play those sounds.
